OUR

HISTORY

Starting in the 70’s, we started our first negotiations to acquire lands for oil palm crops in canton Quinindé – Esmeraldas.
In 1976, we started industrial crops within the country.
At the same time, we acquired a property in Cole – Roncatigrillo, which turned into a genetic and seeds production field for the production of certified palm oil seeds and pollen.
Over the years, we have developed new palm varieties to improve the genetic material, as the guineensis “El Dorado”; as well, improvements in the assays with the Hybrid material OxG, which would later serve for re-cropping of the plantations affected by the BUD rot; this material is able to tolerate the disease.

Starting in the 70’s, we started our first negotiations to acquire lands for oil palm crops in canton Quinindé – Esmeraldas.
In 1976, we started industrial crops within the country.
At the same time, we acquired A property in COLE RONCATRIGRILLO, which was turned into a genetic FIELD AND SEEDS PRODUCTION FIELD for the eventual production of certified oil seedsand pollen.
Over the years, we have developed new palm varieties to improve the genetic material, as the guineensis “El Dorado”; as well, improvements in the assays with the Hybrid material OxG, which would later serve for re-cropping of the plantations affected by the BUD rot; this material is able to tolerate the disease.

1973 – Incorporation of the company Tatiana S.A.
First plot of land, 674 ha. in size, in the Km 200 area of the road Quito – Esmeraldas.

5554,60 ha.
1976 – Purchased hacienda San José, located a kilometer away from Quinindé, property with
a surface of 34 ha.
1974 – 1994 – Planted the first generation of African palm trees of the guineensis variety,
with imported Cirad VEGETAL material; the average output of African Palm Tree is recorded
when the plantation is 6 or 7 years old, producing up to 28 T/ha/year.
2005 – Planted the second generation of palm trees, noting the height of the trees which
reached between 13 and 14 meters high, making it impossible to harvest and prune.
2008 – Recropping of the second generation with the same guineensis material
1974 – 1975 –  Built a new OIL MILL in Río Blanco, with greater capacity.
2014 – 2020 – Appearance of BUD rot, affecting 3500 ha. Of palm crops.
2015 – Recropping with hybrid material in new areas amounting to a total of 2027 ha.,
currently the crops are located in the initial area amounting to a total of 2877 ha.

1977 – Acquired two plots, 50 ha. Each, setting up plantations in the first 100 ha with
guineensis material, cropping in the years 78 and 79, in 1978
2008 – 2009 – Renewed with hybrid material.
2001 – 2006 – The southern area of this plot of land is cropped with 1700 ha. of guineensis
material.
Currently – 8000 ha. of hybrid material, 2000 ha. with guineensis material; of these, 1100
ha. remain cropped and the other 900 ha. are under soil preparation for recropping with
hydrid material, most in ACEIPA. The latest land purchases for 600 ha. correspond to new
crops in the area of San Roque and another 620 ha. belonging to Cooperativa la Pantera were
transferred as part of the Forest Reserve to the Ministry of the Environment.
PDE currently accounts for a total of 10000 ha. of crops, 8000 of hybrid and 2000 of guineensis,
480 ha. of lands have been used for roads, while 460 ha have been used for pastures.
There is an OIL MILL located towards the center of the plantation, with a capacity of 70 Ton/h.

Currently – 5066,35 ha are in production.

1976 – Acquired the hacienda Cole property.
The total surfaced amounted to 2857,50 ha. However, due to property invasion and donations
made to a pre-cooperative named Ronca Tigrillo and another for the institution called Inefan
of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, a total of 1071 ha. were donated. Thus, the real
effective surface was 1786,50.
Currently – Construction of palm breeding station (cropping of DURA parent plants
guinnensis and parent plants of oil so that, with the benefits of  plant breeding and the
guidance of CIRAD, we may produce certified seeds for both high oleic material as well as
guineensis material that is highly tolerant to Bud Rot).
